Sneakerplaats interview with @kevin.am1

Who are you? What do you do for a living? Where do you live?

First of all, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do this interview 🫶🏼

Hey everyone, my name is Kevin. I’m 33 years old and from Switzerland. I live together with my girlfriend and our cat. I work as a registered nurse in psychiatry.

When did your love for sneakers start and why do you love them so much?

That’s a tough one. I’d say pretty early on. I actually saved up my pocket money for two months to buy my very first pair – it was an AND1. A good friend reignited that passion a few years ago, and since then, it has really taken off again. I just love wearing loud and eye-catching pairs!

Do you remember your first pair of sneakers? Which one was it?

Yes, absolutely! Like I said, it was an AND1. The toebox was red and the heel black. I still remember the day I bought them with my own money as a little kid – such a special moment.

What’s your favorite brand and model?

Easiest question of them all: definitely the Nike Air Max 1. For me, it’s the most beautiful silhouette ever made.

How many sneakers do you currently own?

At the moment around 85–90 pairs. But let’s be honest… there will definitely be more coming 😅

What’s your favorite pair in your collection?

That’s a really tough one. But since I’m a huge animal fan, I’d go with the Animal 1.0.

Which pairs are still on your wish list?

There are still quite a few… the Animal 3.0 set, Dusk to Dawn, Denham, and many more 🤣

Do you have a favorite sneaker store or shop?

Switzerland is pretty small, so we don’t have a huge variety. I’d pick Titolo and Qairstore. On my last trip to Portugal, I discovered Sed.sneakered and was absolutely blown away!

Which brand or model would you never wear? And why?

Definitely adidas. Not because I dislike them, but they just don’t fit my foot well. Plus… they’re not an Air Max 1 😅

Which sneaker in your collection was the hardest to get?

That would be the SF ID. Let’s just say I had to send a few persistent messages (maybe even a bit annoying at some point) to finally get that pair.

What advice would you give to new sneakerheads?

Wear what you like! Respect other people’s styles, and most importantly – enjoy all these beautiful sneakers together.

What has been your biggest steal so far?

Probably the Elephant OG including a donor pair. I paid less than the retail price back then – can’t beat that!

How much time do you spend on sneakers?

Haha, do I really have to answer this one? I’d say about 6–10 hours a week. Taking photos especially takes quite some time.

How do your loved ones feel about your sneaker lifestyle?

Good question! My girlfriend actually takes all of my sneaker photos – so big thanks to her at this point! She even has her own small collection by now with around 40 pairs (Dunks, Jordans, AM1s, etc.).
